JP Keith Bardwell = Trick Daddy. He Just Luv Da Kids.
Justice of the Peace, Keith Bardwell, believes he wasn’t wrong because the law says he cannot deny them marriage – and since they got married, he says he didn’t prevent them from getting married. KOOK! *rolling eyes* This has reached the point of silly. He’s concerned about the children. He’s sooooo concerned about the children. Bill Quigley, director of the Center for Constitutional Rights and Justice, nailed it when he said: “Perhaps he’s worried the kids will grow up and be president.”
This reporter brings up a very valid point {btw: thanks to Laura for referencing this video interview} … If you refused to marry THIS couple out of concern for their children’s quality of life, have you ever refused any OTHER couple marriage for any other reason other than mixed race? For instance:
- Has there ever been a couple who had history of domestic violence that you refused to marry?
- Have you refused to marry a couple due to them being low income, or unemployed?
- Have you ever refused to marry a couple based on ANYTHING other than race out of concern for their future children and the challenges they may face later in life?
The reporter asked him if he would refuse to perform the ceremony based on family issues or someone not having a job… Basically, is there any OTHER couple that you have DISCRIMINATED AGAINST on ANY basis other than race which moved you to decide you had a moral obligation to NOT marry them? Here’s what the Justice had to say about that:
How can a person seriously make this make sense to themselves? There are a number of challenging circumstances a person encounters throughout their lives. When I was a kid, the children who wore glasses were the ones who got picked on and beat up {thus the reason I refused to wear mine LOL} so it would be acceptable for a Justice to refuse to marry a couple with bad eyesight out of concern for what their children may experience as a result of requiring glasses? Where does this mentality end… the one where a person feels entitled to abuse their position in order to force their ridiculous views and personal agenda on those who trust them to uphold the laws that are intended to protect our rights?!
In my quest to reveal how biracial CHILDREN feel about this issue, I asked my own children… Since we also live in Louisiana (where the Justice is), I feel their experiences are very relevant to this question. Here are the interviews I did with my oldest four children:
“I don’t do interracial marriages because I don’t want to put children in a situation they didn’t bring on themselves,” Bardwell said. “In my heart, I feel the children will later suffer.” Well… does it look like my kids are suffering? Every child is born into a situation they didn’t ask for. This entire WORLD is a situation I didn’t ask for… but yet this man believes he has a right to say I am wrong for bringing my children into existence? How dare he! I’m still very upset about this. I cringe to think that there are Keith Bardwells everywhere, looking down their noses at my family – and sitting in public office for over three decades, deciding the rights for the rest of us by the stroke of his pen. Sickening.

Thanks for understanding what we faced! Your children are so cute; I can’t wait to have my own! Terence does have a 14 year old son who is mixed and we love him to pieces. We never expected the news to travel so fast…we were more than surprised. Your support is greatly appreciated. We are both on Facebook if you get a chance to look us up.God Bless and thanks again!!

I can’t imagine what you guys went through. I know you didn’t let it ruin your day – obviously you guys got married – CONGRATULATIONS!!! But, the frustration. Oh, I just can’t imagine. It makes my blood pressure go up just THINKING about someone saying that to you! Best of luck to you BOTH :) *and when are you planning on having a little McKay? haha*

Kat, I watched the video of your babies and they are SO cute. I love the answers that they gave, especially Avalyn, on being a biracial beauty. (Because we both know that your babies are gorgeous.) I am glad that they don’t have any problems out of the children at school, nor do they think that they are any different than any other child. (Except Tre who tried to compare himself to an Oreo. You might want to get him checked out. lol) Yes, your children are special. (Moreso their mother. Although you’re “special” in a “special” way.) Keep the videos coming. They are too cute. (Take that Mr. Keith Bardwell. Maybe he shouldn’t be allowed to marry or procreate under the assumption of making ignorant children.)
Mucho Amor,
Shynea
